How many people have put orders in with their dealers and specced their cars? Have any of the dealers been told their allocations yet?

Also, when should we start to see road tests in the press? I really want to see a road test before signing the order form, but not sure I'll get that chance.

Mine will be the first at my Dealer and I was asked to spec. it about four weeks ago. I'm told that BMW are announcing Dealers first year allocations and build dates of first cars within the next two weeks. Press are testing cars right now so reviews should appear v. soon. If you haven't signed an order form yet you may be in for a wait for the car! I'd sign - that way you know you've got the option which you won't have any problem passing on if you decide against the car.

Last I heard from my dealer was a month or so back to confirm verbally I still wanted the car. I will give him a chase today and see if I can get him to take some more money off me. smile

Heard from my dealer and went in today to spec the car. Couple of oddities with his computer; I couldn't choose radar cruise control, or the M-DCT? I've got a provisional spec at the moment which I'll firm up soonish.

Why would you want radar cruise on an M3?

I had it on an SL500 and never used it and that is far from a performance car.

I didn't go for radar whatsit but did go for main beam auto dipping - how lazy is that! It was peanuts though.

You'll never use it, you'll play with it once or twice and then.........

Very difficult to let the car drive you, however lovely that sounds.

I think active cruise will be great for battling through motorways with. Not much use anywhere else I agree.

I had radar on my RR Sport and used it lots, amazing system! Especially good on foreign motorways...
