I've got £20k to spend on an M3 convertible- hurrah!
I'm 25 and have been quoted £800 to insure it- hurrah!

The next question is can I afford the service costs?
Anyone got a breakdown of what they have paid over a couple of years or so?

£800 I don't beleive it to be honest.

Good luck getting that! (25 6 yr NC, very good postcode, double that (or 1.2K /w/ tracker which I don't want)

sorry, forgot to answer your question!

expect £700 yr tyres
£500 servicing costs (ave. depends when you get it, if a oil or inspII is due)

If mine didn't have warranty, mine would have cost about £1.5K in other stuff (brakes siezed, diff leaked, nothing else major).

They are all rough numbers, but in teh ballpark really - hope that gives an idea of cost.

Depends if you use a MD or an Indie, plus were the car is in it's service history.

I had an Oil service and break fluid change and hand brake adjustment £303 at a main stealer

So Oil service is around 100-120. Inspection I i would budget around 300-400

The biggy is Inspection II that would be around 600-800

I would shop around if you have seversl main dealers in your area or find a good indie

Try Admiral my friend. It helps that I live in the sticks (0 crime), will be parked on a driveway and won't be used for any commuting. Admiral didn't ask for a tracker.
Its not just me either, a couple of chaps from www.e36coupe.com have been quoted similar amounts for similar circumstances.

ah, unfortunately the admiral group count factory fitted options as modifications.

I can get a £1000 admiral quote, when I put 19's and Sat Nav on there it doubles.

......Also, in a total loss admiral only replace your car with base spec (18's non HK etc..etc...)

So I don't insure with them myself smile

£1250 for the Z4M AND wife's Cooper S conv with Admiral - we're both 27! However in answer to your original Q, I would be equally concerned with replacement costs of tyrs and brake pads etc which could set you back £1k each time.
