Exhaust size on a M5

Being slighty dim, i was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between a 83mm bore exhaust pipe and a 76mm bore exhaust pipe.
Apart from the size of the pipe is there any difference in sound, performance to the car.

To me they sound the same, but that is probably due to the Youtube compression on the videos.

Which one is supposed to sound deeper, nicer.

The sound should be exactly the same - the external tips is all that is different, which does not affect performance or anything else, as the exhaust boxes, internal diameter tubing, etc is all the same.
