Anyone experienced this problem when approaching junctions/roundabouts and changing down?

Can be a bit hairy as the power steering goes when the engine stalls and you can't steer the car!

Various people on BM3W board have suggested faulty MAFS or Cam position sensors...

Any help appreciated.

I would say Fuel pump related. Four times on a recovery transporter in a year with these symptoms on my 540i. The first time they changed the camshaft sensor. Then it happened again. They reconnected a wire on the fuel pump. then again (in France) They changed the fuel pump. Then again. They changed the fuel gauge sender unit. Then I sold it, before my recovery insurance became void!

Even with all the diagnostics, BMW never found the root of the problem. But one thing for sure, it was definitely fuel related.

... coul also be a symptom of a battery/alternator on the way out. My M5 did that several times over the last month .. now has a new alternator and battery.

Hmm...with so many possible causes this could turn out to be very expensive if I choose the wrong fix and then have to try the others...anyway, thanks all for the input...
