There's an ad in classifieds selling a new M3 build slot:

www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/160065.htm

The dealer deposit/order forms I've seen explicitly state you can't do this.

Anyone got views on this?

My dealer has told me that neither they or BMW will do this - the car has to go to the next person on their list. Not that I've got any intention of selling my slot which will be the first car at my dealer! Nicely spec'd but not over the top the car has come to £56k so I can't really see anyone paying this guy a premium as that's getting near basic spec. 997 money.

Thing is...it would only be a 997C2 with poverty spec....nearly 100bhp down on the Beemer and losing most of the practicality. An entirely different proposition IMHO of course.

Wouldn't disagree, just making the point given that, sadly, quite a few of these cars will be bought by guys purely for the image in which case, to them, the Porsche may become tempting at that price. BTW,anyone want to take bets on whether BMW will finally give the car some decent brakes?
