i have an e46 m3 smg with the widescreen nav and the harman kardon. the stereo has just stopped working by which i mean the little orange light in the bottom left hand corner of the screen wont turn on.i can still operate the bluetooth, sat nav and the television still works allthough there is no sound from the system. i have tried turning the harman kardon switch on and off and it makes no difference.the cd changer and also the nav dvd still work fine in the boot too. is this a fuse on the head unit or a faulty switch or something as i dont want to have to replace the screen as i have no warranty?
any advice welcome.....

Try pulling out fuses 7 and 41 in the glovebox then back in. Should work afterwards, happened a few times on my E46's.

Used to happen to my e46 all the time, it just freezes. The previous poster is right with the fuses, pull them out then replace and it will work fine just needs to be reset to un-freeze it.

nice one for the advice. i have just done it and i feel like i have just won the pools. the fella at bmw where it is booked into on thursday ( was )said it wouldnt be a fuse and it could be a problem with the unit. i have been expecting a big bill a week, now i can buzz around again without listening to my bloody smg clunking around all day.
thanks
