Hello, thoroughly enjoying my M roadster and starting to work through my list of jobs, giving her some TLC. I have someone coming to clean and recondition the hood this week, but am thinking about getting the back window replaced.

Is it a straightforward job? Do they just zip out or are there hidden rivets anywhere?

Can anyone recommend anyone who's done this or is BMW the best bet?

They are zipped in...Its a little bit fiddly but i've got them down to about 30 mins...

If you diy be careful, the screen scratches really easily, there are a few tips i can give too..but I do tend to recommend a dealer or good indy

Thanks for the tips, any idea on what to use to get rid of sticker goo? Dealer stuck one on the window - at moment i'm going with soapy water, but wonder if i can get away with anything stronger

I would buy genuine as it will fit correctly and it also comes with the bits to fit it with aswell. Also there is loads of sheets that the screen comes in to protect it from scratches whilst fitting it.

When fitting the rear screen and putting evostik down to bond the fabric in place be careful not to get any evostik at all on the screen-even if you wipe it off quickly it burns through the plastic-I've seen it happen loads

Sticker goo removal....how about a hairdryer to warm up the goo and then roll it off like blue tac. Afterwards use a decent glass cleaner ie Autoglym, McGuires etc to gently polish off the outline area of the sticker. Good luck

Thanks for the goo tips, window has come up really well, although there is a scuff mark (no doubt why the sticker was added in the first place), but loads better

Blackspider fitted a new rear screen for me today.
Took 30 mins and is a completely professional job.

Highly recommended and I would use his skills again.
