E46 M3 SMG I And SMG II Whats the difference

What is the difference between SMG I and II? Is there anything to specifically look out for or be worried about?

Looking at a car tomorrow which is specifically advertised as SMG II and I wasn't sure if its different on earlier E46 M3s or something you could spec?

SMG II was the 'box on all E46 SMG cars.
