Hi All,

I looked at a '05 BMW AUC E46 coupe yesterday with less than 8000 miles which I'm very interested in. It had its running in service at 1193 in late 2005. The service indictor lights now say the next service is due in approx 6000 miles.

I would normally have an oil service every 12 months regardless of mileage and asked the dealer todo the oil service as part of any deal. He said it wasn't necessary at this stage and could go for at least 5000 miles.

I wont do too many miles in the car and will probably do 5000 in approx 5 months, therefore, it could be 18 months + between the running in service and first oil change.

Do you think this is a a problem in terms maintenance intervals?

Many Thanks in advance.

The service indicator will determine when it does need an oil service so the car will be perfectly fine, but I doubt they would want to lose a sale for the cost of an oil change

The service indicator is based on using 2275 litres of fuel or 2 years, which ever comes first. It'll be fine but there is never any harm in doing an extra oil change on a car.

Thanks all.

I've just put down a deposit on the car. The dealership agreed to discount the oil service when it comes round to it.
