We had 2 x M5's at our place today for powertests after they had been to another tuner for ecu reprogramming.

The 1st was Le Mans blue with around 50,000 miles up, Supersprint cats and the reprogramme, it ran c411 BHP & 370lb-ft.
The 2nd was Silverstone blue with around 65,000 miles up, std cats and the reprogramme, it ran c410 BHP & 362lb-ft.

They then persuaded me to run my old crate E39 M5 107500 miles Supersprint cats & back boxes and ecu reprogramme [still had sh*t Morrisons fuel in it] needs Insp 11 svs etc.
It ran 423.8 BHP and 400lb-ft

I was gobsmacked with the numbers, as I had not run it before on the dyno.

Cheers

Good numbers Allan , i've only ever had one make the full 400bhp as standard, and that was with a new engine from BMW.

Out of interest was it 3rd gear, shoot 8 ?

Charlie it was Shoot 8 but not sure on gear, whatever one delivers peak power between 80 & 110 MPH and it hits the 7100 limiter at around 90 MPH I seem to recall

Alan, it was myself and my mate.

Just a couple of things that i need to pull you on (hope you dont mind), firstly you got the mileage around the wrong way and the silverstone only has about 40k, mine (Le mans blue) hasnt got ss cats they are just 100 cell sports cats, mine actually was putting out 380lbft and lastly our limiters cut in at 7k where as yours went up to 7.4k.

But all in all we were quite suprised with your figures and especially after you said something like "as far as i know its std"

They dont do a "tongue in cheek" icon here. My old banger surprised me. You are correct with the revs though, so this gives the game away that someone has programmed it at sometime.

I am treating it to an Insp 11 this weekend and some new rims & tyres next week. Then its mot time get the pixels fixed and I suppose I will then put it up for sale.

Cheers

Hi Craig
We now have remapping capability on E39 M5 and running the RX7 is no problem.
