Help with price of my car !!!

Hey everyone.

I've just signed up as i've been looking for advice on selling our car. My b/f has asked me to ring around a few places getting prices on the car and i found this site so thought i would ask.

We are about to take delivery of an Audi Q7 jeep and planned to p/x it, but after Audi gave us a price my b/f got angry and said he (me) would sell it privatly.

So could you lovely people give me an indication on what a good price for the below car would be,

BMW M3 SMG Convertable E46
Silver with Black leather
First Registered - 01-03-02
2 Owners from new
Full BMW Service History
Current Mileage - 29,617
Got all the correct books etc


SMG Gearbox
6 CD Changer
Hard Top
Electric Seats
19' Alloys

Last Few services
13/10/06 - Inspection 2, Microfilter at mileage 28,911
27/09/05 - Oil Service, Microfilter at mileage 26,932
23/12/04 - Inspection 2 at mileage 24,713

It has just had 4 new tyres, 4 new 19' alloy wheels and been in the bodyshop to get anything that needed sorting sorted.

No idea on price. But once you've decided how much you are going to advertise it at, stick an advert in the PH classifieds (free to individual members).

Ours doesn't have Sat Nav !!! But will e-mail him anyway.

I would imagine the stealer offered you in the region of 18 - 19? Private you could try for 21995 and be prepared to loose the 995, hard top helps I would say.

Anybody else?

Problem is you are up against forecourt cars with a warranty which, with BMW warranties as they are at the moment, is quite useful on an M car.

Audi offered £17k, my b/f thinks its worth £23k private sale. Especially as it has 4 new tyres, 4 new alloys and a hard top. Its also a very clean car and maintained very well.

Slight flaw in that thinking is that most cars on a BMW forecourt are going to have 4 new tyres and nice shiny alloys. Under the approved used scheme they have to be gleaming. So yes I see his point but it's only going to be what a punter expects anyway. Another plan might be to sell the car without the hard-top and then ebay the hard-top separately. They seem to go for 700 to 800 on ebay.

just looking for a coupe version at the mo, I reckon £21500 would be about right. £23'000 is starting to get into 03 / 53 reg money.

Just sold my 04 coupe M3 with similar spec but much lower miles. I would hazard a guess you will get £21k tops - sorry. Great cars and yours has a good spec (but no sat nav which unfortuantely is desirable). If you consider you had that car nearly 5 years, that's not too bad on the depreciation front. I got £3k less than I "thought" it was worth. Best of luck.

Just bought an 02 M3 Conv and spent quite a bit of time looking. I agree with a previous post of somewhere around £22k. The fact it has recently had an inspection II is worth quite a bit as that is close to £1000 and the new tyres and wheels are a big bonus. Yes sat nav is desirable but in the end I chose one without as I liked the car. The hard top is also a plus - you could always go for £21.5k without hardtop and sell the top for £600-£800 elsewhere. There are not many good examples about on an 02 with so few miles. At the end of the day it just depends on the right buyer turning up!
