There's something not right there, chap. Mine easily bettered that when new and averages 24ish on mixed driving and even set at 90mph with the cruise control on will easily return 25+.

Mine is the same at the moment. 4k miles on it roughly and returns on average 20mpg. Not done any long motorway work with it yet but it should be better when you aren't hooning around

Blimey, I averaged 17 mpg on a 2000 mile ski trip (speeds beyond three figures etc) in my 6.3 litre ML63. with a 95 litre tank (note smug smile), that still gave me over 300 miles between fills.

Anyway, back on topic. I use my Z4M Coupe every day, drive it as quickly as most people are likely and average just over 24mpg over a week's use. It's not as good as my old Alpina Z4 Roadster S which averaged 27-28 mpg, but not bad. Incidentally the needle goes down (emptying the tank) on a par with my ML63, so both seem as frugal (it's amazing what these rose-tinted glasses can achieve these days!).

I must say - I seem to get 24 if I'm driving my Gran around! but otherwise its a sub 20 proposition I'm afraid. It hasnt improved with time, in fact its got worst as i become more comftable with the car and started to hoon it a bit more

doesn't sound right as mentioned, same engine as in the E46 which is a heavier car and I never get below 23, 28 on a run but usually 26's
