Hi all.
I'm currently looking for an E46 M3. There seems to be quite a range of cars available with varying specs. There are the fully loaded cars in silver/black with black/grey leather but with milages over 70k and then there are the cars with low miles but missing satnav/19" wheels or with red leather interior. I've not seen the red leather in real life, but from the pics it looks very red.

I want titanium silver, and test drove a lovely example at the weekend - silver with full black leather, 19" wheels, SMG 'box & Nav/TV - but it was a bit too pricey for me at £26k.
I've found two similar cars but with slightly different specs:
This one has everything but the satnav/tv (not a huge problem as I have a TomTom) and this one has nav, but also has the red leather interior.

When it comes to resale time, what's going to make it easier to shift, a respectable colour interior or factory fit satnav? I have to admit, the silver/red combo is growing on me the more I look at it, it would make it harder to sell though, right?

The red leather always looks very red in photos but in real life is a lot more toned down and subtle. I loved it and had it in my Silver Grey M3 and it looked fantastic. Didnt have a problem on re-sale either although I am sure that black is a safer bet.

You really should go and see it with your own eyes before deciding.

I agree my last M3 was silver grey with imola and sold no problem, my Z4MC is the same colour it does look very red in photos but in the flesh it looks great

Slightly different style of interior, but I have the Imola Red leather on my E39 M5, and I was also unsure about it, to the point that I half heartedly went to the dealers to look at the car, sure in my mind that I wouldn't be buying it because of the interior colour. However as soon as I saw it all my doubts were dispelled, and I can confirm that it does look really good in real life, and much better than in the photos.

As an added bonus everyone who has been in the car has, without exception, commented that the interior looks great and suits the car, and is different and a welcome change to the usual greys and blacks.

If you like the red, then go for it, I don't think you'll have any problem selling it, as it will always have a certain appeal because it's a bit different from the norm.

Out of interest, is there any reason why I should avoid a car with 70k miles?
Is there anything that goes wrong around then, or a monster service due at 80k or something?

I'd expect an M3 to do that sort of milage without breaking a sweat, but when there are examples out there with less than 40k miles for not much more money it seems foolish to get a high miler.
