Z4m roadster or TVR T350c
Discussion
Hello all. My first post. Have been PH reader for ages but never posted anything because i could usually find all the info i needed, thank you.
My problem is: getting company car for the day to day stuff. But will need something for fun. The choices are TVR T350C or Z4m roadster ( not coupe as they seem to be holding their value rather better ).
Has anyone driven both and what did you think. I require the car to be fun but not stupidly scarey. I love TVR's having had a cerby but the cost just hurts too much. My heart says T350 but my Brain says Z4M !!!! I was impressed by both when i drove them but really didn't feel like giving them a good welly when the roads were damp. (will try again in the dry.)
I have been driving a 2 litre GTV for the past two years and have become desensitised to full on acceleration, so was easily impressed. I know how soon you can get used to it. I am no driving GOD but like to think i am a bit handy at the wheel.
what to do????

Having been a chimera owner and spending too much time lusting after a Tamora I eventually came to the conclusion that an Z4M would be a better choice. Servicing is easy with a stealer nearly in every town and about 10,000 or so rather than 6000 miles. With the newer TVR's when all said and done the engines do require a rebuild at 18K miles. The speed 6 engine is superb but it does have issues.
The TVR and the BMW are very different cars. The TVR is a true enthusiast car you either love it or you hate it. It has a functional cabin, elegant but functional not many optional extra's. The BMW on the other hand while it is a true sports car you can be a bit more pampered with electric this and that with the reassurance of a large manufacturer QC/QA system.

I know how you feel... I too lust over the beauty that is the T350, it appears to have the whole package. But even used as a 2nd car I would fear for financial ruin and go for the Z4M every time!
That and if I send a car into a dealer more than twice for the same issue I loose interest and more often than not seem to sell it. It's stupid I know, but it means I would probably only own the TVR for a week or so anyway

Having owned a T350 and a BMW Z4 although not the Z4M,all i would say is do yourself a favour and DO NOT buy a TVR you will regret it,now to follow this, there will be a tirade from all the TVR lot going on and on about why TVR`s are the better car, well the TVR does look a better car,but trust me on this and as i said ive actually owned both... DONT DO IT......
I am a big TVR fan having owned many over the years including a speed six cerb. I currently have 1970 Tuscan to get the TVR urge out at the weekends, but when I drove a sagaris and a Z4M the M did it for me a lot more. Its a loon of a car, very much like a griff 500 when the traction is off. great fun and makes life easy. also, when you need to sit back and relax it will let you.
There are some well priced ones about as well. Go drive one, give it the beans ( roof down) and let us know how you get on.

My T350 blew a hole the size of your head through the side of engine block shortly after I sold it. If the same thing happened now then it would probably be difficult to get the parts and any factory warranty is currently a grey area following company closing down.
A TVR is more individual but its also less well developed, imagine massive heat soak in to the cabin, electrical glitches and bits falling off.
That said the Z4M roadster is a girly car as all the TVR owners will tell you. Plus it will depreciate rapidly.......
Bennno
True there is still a fair bit of depreciation to be had out of the Z4M, but think of all the money you'll save on fixing it all the time Surely TVR residuals are even more volatile right now? That's a bl00dy good point about the parts, still think the only TVR I would buy would be an older one (before they started making there own engines) as I have heard too many horror stories on here.
