M6 unlimited top speed.. a short video I made
Discussion
I am new here..noticed some discussion about the top speed of the M6. I picked up my car on May 30 at the factory and had it competely delimited at Hartge in Beckingen before running it in and spending a week on the Ring with it. I did take it out for a high speed run with another delimited M6..am not sure if I can post a link, but here is a very brief video we took of unlimited maximum speed....

Nice video and car RDMcG and thank you for sharing it with us . I had no idea they were so fast out of the box as it was .
I commend you on having the courage to drive so fast , especially at night .
I'm not really a fan of BMW's (flak jacket on ) , but the the 6 series is a beautiful car and would love one if I wasn't hooked on another marque ....

It was another M6. We deliberately set it up for 4am on a Sunday so there would be no trucks. It was not as hairy as it looks..the car is very, very solid. It was pretty heavy on the Nurburgring ,which is not the easiest place to drive, and I eventually had a slight discussion with the Armco on my 51st lap..however,all was ok in the end. I bought it mainly as a road car, though, and will be doing the same thing all over again as soon as I get my GT3RS in which we will also do a tandem run with another one and then some thrashing about the Nordschleife. I am hopeful I will get the thing this summer.

Would be a SL65 waiting for the M6 to catch up....
So long as the road was straight......and free of long shop windows
I reckon the SL will certainly corner better the M6, especially at very high speed. Very well controlled aero and suspension see to that. Ask it to change direction quickly it will always have a problem with the mass but the ABC mostly keeps it all tidy, and once settled into a bend it grips very well indeed.
The urge to admire one's reflection in high street glass is very high in the Merc, and is the one feature about the 6er that is much better. I mean, you would never want to look at its saggy arse and droopy headlamps as it rolled down the road, would you?!
