Just another wee problem I was wondering could you’s help me are is there any more Progress on this???

Is there any truth that E36 M3 Evo car’s come with a “COMPUTER NANNY” they wreck in it restricts power in lower revs to stop car spinning that why a non Evo M3 can sit side by side with a M3 Evo till third gear????

They said it is “A plug on the side of the Gearbox”

And all you do is “Disconnect the plug on the side of the Gearbox and permanently bridge the two connections together”
They claim that it removes some sort of limiter that the ECU applies in 1st and 2nd Gears

Is this true are has anyone done it??????????

its only first gear the 'nanny' affects.its a plug on the side of the gearbox if i remember right.i did it on my old evo and it made a bit of a difference.
the reason why a 3ltr sits even is because imo theres a lot more non evos about which make their stated power compared to the amount of evos which make about 290-300 hp.
that and the fact that the differnece of 10-20hp on the road is negligable and driver skill comes into it more imo.

an increase in hp will notice to the driver but when its compared to another car its not a lot is what i mean.
i used to have an m3 evo with remap, dave f induction, supersprint exhaust.that made a fair difference in response and definately felt quicker, however it was only very slightly quicker than a mates evo, barely anything in it.
a 40 or 50hp gain though will give a massive improvement.in my 3ltr i had cams, carbon airbox, custom map, light pulleys, viscous fan removed and a weight reduction of about 160kgs.now that made a massive difference,it now leaves my mates evo(remaped)standing.and is marginally quicker than a csl in a straight line(about 2 car lengths over a quarter mile)(and hopefully round the twisties too but havent had a go yet, lol)

I think its also down to what the cars original standard output is. For example, an upgrade of 18hp on a standard 140hp engine you will notice more than a 20hp increaase on a standard 320hp car.
