I have a 2019 (68 plate) Unmodified Manual M2 Comp with all 3 Packs, 2 owners including me, bought from BMW Approved Used. 24000miles.

It's coming to the end of the 1 year warranty and it's £850 excluding breakdown cover to extend. I've never bought a manufacturer warranty before always taken the repair cost risk (and got lucky, especially with things like R8V10, Aston Vantage, Cayman, Evora)

But given a manual M2 is rare anyway in unmodified state with all 3 packs and always BMW serviced and Approved used programme, it feels like it makes sense from a value/resale perspective to continue the Warranty.

So if you were in the market for one, would the fact it had always been BMW maintained/warrantied be a big plus, or doesn't it matter if rest of the spec is right? I would sell it on privately, not trade-in to a dealer.

I would get the warranty, for peace of mind you don't know what can happen....or not. If I was buying and the car "has" warranty then plus for me. Most people will want FBMWSH with or without warranty imo.

Same as above, if I was buying one privately the BMW warranty would be a big plus point, takes away most of the risk.

Also I've always found the warranty to be very good, it's very comprehensive and there's never any quibbling in my experience.

The roadside assistance is also worth considering, if you have to use it you get a priority booking at the dealer and a courtesy car.

I wouldn't bother. The S55 is pretty reliable, and if untuned, even the notorious crank-hub issue is unlikely. Got one year left of warranty on my 2020 and really see no need. Perhaps I am missing something.

Never owned a comp but my OG was almost touble free in 3.5yrs of owning it so unless you are going to sell within a year I dont think I would bother.

£850 is pretty good though so I guess its upto you.
