Got me a g80 m3 few weeks ago, 71 plate with 24k miles. Drives quite well, although I've noticed brakes tend to squel now and again, my f80 had the same issue. But it seems to go away when I brake firmly at around 60mph, comes back eventually though. Anyone else have the same issue and is this as common as they say?

My neighbour has the same issue with his M4. You can always tell when he’s home.

Main dealers have a booklet to give out to customers explaining that M sport brakes can squeak and be noisy

Most brake squealing can be cured, and without going to the expense of alternative brake materials.

Remove pads and inspect all angles of the steel back plates, if you find shiny bits thats where high frequency minute movements are the often the cause of the squeal.

Lube up the shiny bits sparingly, various lubes are available, i can suggest more about brake servicing if anyones interested.

No need to service them , a couple of hard braking events from speed will usually sort it, failing that a jet wash of the wheel usually stops it for a 1000 miles or so. My M4 does it when I have been taking it easy , after a spirited drive its fine
