It may well be a normal characteristic but at around 55mph under light throttle my M2 has a slight whine from the rear, I'm guessing its most likely coming from the diff.

The car is approved used so still has 6 months on the warranty and is due a service in a month so wanted to find out if this is normal, or is it something I should flag to the dealer whilst it's in for service?

The car is a 2017 OG F87 M2

When I first drove my OG M2 from the dealership ( used ), I actually pulled over to check online about diff whine. It’s pretty normal. The fact it’s never got any worse in 10000 hard miles seems to confirm this..

Just drive and enjoy it.

I had a used approved BMW that had two diffs during its one year warranty period. First one failed when I was driving it back from the garage, second one failed as they delivered it back to me .
BMW replaced with reconditioned failed units , as so many fail .
They both started with a whine on over run and it got considerably worse on a long journey. An hour on the motorway and they were horrible, when you lifted off . Both times no arguments from the dealers, they knew they were common failures.
