Good evening, folks.
I took the plunge and bought a 2015 F10 M5 in January. Love the car and the noise.
There is a definite judder under hard braking from speed. At all other times braking is all fine so doesn’t seem like warping to me.
It has 12month BMW warranty so took to the main dealer and they diagnosed that the discs were warped caused by the paint on the wheels which has apparently been applied too thick when they were refurbed at some point. This prevents heat from escaping? This is not covered apparently. The wheels are body coloured and diamond cut - look OEM to me.
I feel it is a suspension issue - worn bushes or something? As the OSF doesn’t always feel planted over rough surfaces… Any ideas?
Also recommendation of an indy garage in Dorset (BCP) for second opinion would be much appreciated!
Cheers
John

Two things at play.

They could be playing with a straight bat and they genuinely think it is disc warp from refurbed wheels (and/or callipers) which has long been a BMW get out of jail free cards for warp warranty claims - like 10+ years.

However, is it the dealer you bought it from?

Because if it is a fault (say with suspension) that was present at the time of sale sometimes the warranty won't cover and the dealer will have to reach in their pocket. So they may try the above excuse to fob you off. A different dealer may give a different opinion.

Also the supplying dealer may have refurbished the wheels under AUC causing or masking the problem. It would be worth asking the supplying dealer for the prep sheet and then you can point at them.

However, if it isn't the same dealer then tbh BMW dealers don't try and avoid work, so I'd take them at face value. Can't help with indy recommendations though.

Just to complete the narrative…
I’ve had the wheels re-refurbished and replaced front discs and pads. Original dealership covered this…
Juddering has gone (still bedding the discs in but so far, so good)

Very pleased that the dealer stumped up!

Cheers for your messages, guys 👍🏼
