Hi all just back from ring,in my m4 competition, getting back today made me realise how crap our roads are on 20 inch rims, after 500 miles on Dutch and German roads, can anyone tell me if getting some 19 inch rims make the ride more smoother and not as crashy, thanks

Which generation M4 do you have? F82 or G82? I've driven a G82 on 19 fronts and 20 rears and was pleasantly surprised, my E90 (19s all round) is similar, perhaps a little harsher, but the F82 series was quite badly criticised for poor ride. I'm not sure going to 19s would make a massive difference, although clearly it'd make some change. The F8x is the only M3/4 series I haven't been in aside the E30 so can't truly comment if it's that you have, just going by what I've read/watched.

F82, 19 plate, it didn’t seem bad when I first got it 6 weeks ago, but been spoilt on foreign roads last 3 days

I have an F82 on a 69 plate non-competition on the 19s, it's "ok" on our wonderful British roads, but still prone to crashing over uneven tarmac. I do spend a lot of time swerving for potholes! I haven't driven a comp for more than a 10 mile test drive and the roads around Reading are far better than those in South Oxfordshire so I can't say how much better the 19s are. I am glad I didn't get the 20s though.
