I am looking at a F90 M5 as a daily driver doing around 10 k a year
What do I need to look out for and what’s a realistic MPG I was expecting 20 max, surely this claim of 26/28 is unrealistic ?

I got 24-25 mpg out of mine in 150 kph cruising on motorways, found it very efficient for the performance.

Mine's covered just over 14k miles in nearly 2yrs & average over that time is 21mpg.

Now worth noting this includes around 5-6 track days (Donnington mainly), some local driving, hoons around the Lake/Peak District & longer motorway runs.

I'm confident that without the track days & hoons, this average would be much closer to 30mpg, so a 'normal' use average of 27/28 is perfectly feasible.

15k miles in 14 months, average 27.8 mpg - mostly motorway miles. I don't dawdle but there are natural limits in day to day driving - traffic, and average speed zones.

MPG will depend heavily on the nature of your use - if you never leave town or suburban areas, 20-22 will be more realistic.

Thanks for the reply’s , MPG is not a massive issue I just didn’t expect it to be that high even if you drove around like a learner .

The M5 that you link to is a 2016 F10, not F90 (which is 2018 onwards).

Mine was a non-Competition, on 20" and the ride was perfect. As it was also pre-OPF (think the OPF was introduced early 2019?) and with Sport exhaust it sounded absolutely epic. The LCI sorted the ride on the Competition, so if you could stomp up the extra money, this would be my choice.

I get 21 from my F90 M5. Thats mostly pleasure driving over 4 years and 36,000 miles.
More cruising would see better.

As above, that's an F10 not an F90, completely different car and probably the poorest M5 version I have driven, from E39 through to F90C LCI.

Edited to add, all M5's are special, just some more than others. F10 still a great car and don't let me put you off it, but there are better models out there. The thread was titled F90 M5

Rather than starting a new topic (I hope the OP doesn't mind) I am also interested in probably an F10 M5 as a possible next car, considering along side the same generation M3 and M4.

Are there any significant issues to be worried about with this generation of M5 in terms of things going wrong?

I currently own an F generation M240i which has been superb up to press.

Apologies for any confusion and thanks for all the reply’s , a higher mileage F90 would be in budget hence a lower mileage F10 also raised an eyebrow . Jamescrs ,no probs at all asking about an F10??
