My M6 has barely been used the past month and I had this message yesterday:

“Battery charge very low.
Start engine immediately and recharge by driving for an extended period or using external charger.
Functions requiring power supply……..are switched off”

So put it on charge for 24 hours (Ctech charger), but today got the same message. Went for a drive for an hour and still have the message.

Car is now five years old and I thought the battery would last longer. But do I just need a new battery or is there something else to do/check first?

Is it stop/start?
Wouldn't be surprised if it needs a new one TBH

Had similar when we picked our new x5 from the dealer. Car started fine but message appeared, so did a long motorway trip (1hr plus). Been fine since and I also keep on a ctek when not used for a week or more.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll keep it on the charge and give the car a good run at some point this week and see if that solves the issue.

Goes without saying but carry some jump leads if you stop off anywhere smile
