Well. If it's for cooking I tend to use vegetable oil or fry light..
For anything else, well that depends solely on the car and what oil is currently in it, as you don't really want to be mix and matching unless you plan to replace all of it, and even then, it depends on the car and if the warranty is expecting a certain oil grade to be used.
