I took my 2023 BMW M4 Competition xDrive to the track this weekend. It was a lot of fun in the corners. That is until you hit the straights aways. The electronic governor limits the cars top speed to 159mph. That was a bit disappointing. I read that if you have the professional package that it will limit the cars top speed to 180mph. But I don't want to do anything to void the warranty. If id like to add that option to the car is there a way I can pay for it and have the dealer install it?

What track were you at?I've had numerous cars on various tracks & from memory, the only time a limiter of 160mph would have been an issue is Kemmel straight at Spa.
Can't think of a British circuit where you'd hit 160mph on a straight in an M4. A few you'd possibly get close, but nowhere you'd find it a genuine restriction.

Not surprised the main dealer intimated there was nothing that could be done re: removal of the speed limiter, however would be amazed if that was fact and the limiter couldn't be removed by a 'map' specialist.

Indeed, hence not being surprised at the poster's dealer dissuading him from getting anything like that done. Wouldn't make sense for them to condone a warranty-covered vehicle to have a remap and limiter removal just so someone can go and exert a load of undue stress/wear on something they have to warranty.bumskins said:
