I've almost done the deal on a lightly used LCI. I haven't driven/owned a M car in years and was happy with most things about the car except steering feel and exhaust note.

Nothing I can do about the former but was wondering about options for the latter.

Not interested in a hooligan exhaust, I'm too old for that. Need just a bit more noise.

Thanks

It might just be YouTube, or that stationary revving never sounds great, but that did nothing for me at all, especially in M2 mode on the overrun.

Thanks
The Akra is far too expensive.

The others all seem to give massive bangs/pops. I don't really want that, I'm too old lol. Isn't there an option that just makes the sound a bit more pronounced?
And all those seem to refer to the pre LCI version, not sure they are suitable for the LCI version?

Cheers

Try the AC Schnitzer exhaust, I had one on my F10 M5 (same engine I guess) sounded really nice but none of the childish pops and bangs.

Rossiters who are the UK distributor are very good to deal with as well.

Will also be the approved BMW route and shouldn't impact warranty

I believe that stopped some time ago as BMW developed their own M Performance range of kit, but ACS offer a warranty which is comprehensive should the BMW one not cover it.

Sorry I'm a bit late in the day with a reply but this topic is exactly what I've been looking into for some time, as I find it remarkable just how well BMW have silenced the V8 in these cars!

Exhaust options are limited with an LCI car unfortunately, especially if you're looking for a warranty friendly one. The M Performance System is only homologated for the pre-LCI (and pre-OPF) cars so it not an option.

It only really leaves the AC Schnitzer one - they have 2 variants for the F90, but only their homologated "non-export" system is compliant; a word of warning though, I've heard this system in the flesh and it's only very slightly louder than the standard setup. The "export" system has a much deeper growl and better tone to it, and would have been exactly what I wanted, but again is only for non-OPF cars. I've got several AC Schnitzer products on my LCI car and their product and customer support is exemplary, which is pushing me in their direction.

I guess your main consideration is going to be whether you're concerned about the warranty on the car, if not you have a lot more options to choose from. I've already had a BMW Dealer trying to fob off a drivetrain problem, which their techs caused after a botched repair job, on "chip-tuning" on the car (which is from AC Schnitzer and therefore warranty compliant), so best think over it carefully.

Thanks for your reply. Out of interest, which ACS parts do you have on your LCI?

I presently have the ACS ECU upgrade, roof spoiler, alloy pedal set and I've just bought (but not yet fitted) the ACS paddle shifters. I am really interested in their exhaust kit but feel it's a little too quiet.

Was it Chigwell that fitted your upgrades but any chance?.

They fitted the roof spoiler prior to collection, but the remaining modifications were fitted by AC Schnitzer themselves in Aachen cool

I would be interested in the ACS tune, but the price is horrific.

Nice review of your car on AutoTop NL.
