What tyre choice are people using on the f10 M5
Also is there any scope to go wider than the standard 295?

I imagine most would opt for Michelin PS4Ss or maybe Goodyear Supersports

Thanks. I see some of the older posts say this I didn’t know if there was a newer better option. 👍

I'd go for the MPS4S over the MPSS...the 4S are a big step better in cold weather.

I was going to post this. It seems there is very little to choose from between the two.

As for width I would probably stick to OE sizing particularly if there is a warranty. Going wider may hinder wet weather performance which I assume is probably not a great idea.

I think the sizing is best to stay 295. From what I’ve read it’s mostly the Americans running larger sizes. A tad warmer over there

Never seen an F10 M5 on anything but Pirelli or Michelin tyres, stick with Michelin's PS4s great for the car.
I have Pirelli's on this latest F90 M5 comp 2021, they seem ok at the moment.

Good to know thanks as I have a pair of * P Zeros for the rear of the M2 in the garage. They have been brilliant so far as support for my bike when I fix it laugh

Agree with Pirelli's I have them on my '21 F90 as well and they are pretty good. I find they are a bit stickier than Michelin's, but don't last as long. On an F10 I would personally always have Pirelli's over Michelins for that reason, given the massive traction issues with all that power through the rear wheels

Pzeros are junk, had them twice on my F10 comp, don’t grip well wet or dry, & get REALLY nervous below 3mm in the wet, cold weather below 10°C they are like driving on plastic. Amusing for 5/6th gear wheelspin, but seriously hamper any kind of meaningful progress. God knows why BMW switched oem from Pss to Pzeros, they are awful imho.

The only thing I fit now is PS4S, incredibly good tyres & last well considering power/torque/heft of the M5… Although there is apparently a PS5S in the pipeline fairly soon?

Goodyears are fine but only last half as long as the Michelins

PS4S all the way. Had MP SS prior and 4S a significant advance.

Interestingly or not possibly, my car (M6GC rather than M5) was recovered to Sytner from France a few years ago after a blowout (my fault didn't notice a very high kerb) and they would not fit PS4s as they were then not approved by BMW for that car so I had have fit MPSS which lasted very well and (before the blowout wink) were miles better than the P Zeros on there before.

This may not be at all relevant now nor to an M5 but if warranties are in place maybe worth a check?

I've put the original OEM marked MPSS on mine almost interchangeably with MPS4S in the past and the only night and day difference to me is wear rate and price with the older tyre scoring much better in both respects.

I've also had MPSS delivered to a dealer who has fitted them because they are * marked whereas they wouldn't do so for the newer tyres.

I have no doubt the MPS4S is probably the best tyre all round and standard fitment on the F90 but the original MPSS is still perfectly good.

I'm running the CS7's and I love them.
