Surprised at the lack of chatter in the dedicated M forum about these new cars. The reviews I have seen have been pretty positive on how it drives and steers and it's certainly quick with several reviewers achieving <3.7 to 60.

Will the market accept the looks and will it pay the price? 75k for a base car is silly, a few options and you are well over 80k. How long until ~£20k discount is the norm.....

I am very keen on an Alfa QF but will be watching and reading what I can on the M3 until I can see/drive one in person. The AWD version has the potential to be great, at even more cost.

Is AMG laughing right now or watching to see if BMW has played a blinder?

Not just M cars of course but the weight of all modern cars concerns me in the main going up and up and up. I had a M5C and swapped for a M2C which I much prefer tbh, the M5 for me was too big and heavy for what I need daily. The M3 and 4 just seem a bit portly now + that weird front end.

TX.

Edit - AMG won't be laughing when they try and sell the new C63 with a 4 pot engine!

I am surprised that AMG thinks they can pull off a 4cyl, didn't Porsche go that way on some models a few years back and then have to retreat.

The weight of these cars does seem high but I would like to see some actual real-world numbers as I am not sure what to believe given the games the makers get up to.

To save starting a new thread does anyone know the main engine differences between the F80 competition and the G80 m3? They seem to push out pretty identical figures?

I have a last model M4 Comp Pack, but I don’t think that I will be changing it for this latest one.

I don’t really mind the front end - that can work - just look at the 3.0 CSL Hommage. It’s the rest of it. Too much like an Audi A5. I also object to the weight increase, and to the use of the 8 speed ZF auto in place of the double clutch unit.

I test drove the G82 today , have to say I was super impressed . Its been a while since I drove a F82 but the G series felt a lot more planted on the rear and the ride was much more composed , you do feel the weight but then buyers want all the tech and that comes at a penalty

I think the F82 will be far the better track car but the G82 is going to be much easier to live with and the better road car imo

Some decent deals available as well.
