Hi All. Currently looking at a M4 GTS re a private seller. Would anyone know the indicative price for an approved BMW 12 month warranty following successful dealer inspection ?
Many thanks for any help smile

As long as it’s had a BMW service history you can check this online at https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Start

Unless things have changed, they just give you the warranty if you meet the criteria on paper unlike Porsche where an inspection is needed

If you buy the warranty, i believe you need to wait 3 months before you can claim if the existing warranty had expired.

Also, make sure you comply with all the warranty criteria such as running in service, service intervals etc. You can buy the warranty and pay for it without any inspection or check as stated, however if you go to make a claim they will check out all your paperwork and if it is not up to scratch the may chose not to pay out.

If all is in order though, the insured warranty from BMW is very good.

Thanks for the detailed reply .

Do you know the timeline for running service then I assume annual service following ? Mileage is sub 7,000, so miles not relevantl

Running in service isn't time limited, but must be carried out at or around 1,200 miles (it's actually 2,000km).

If it's much more than 200 miles either side of that, you might have an issue but I can't recall the exact tolerance allowed.

Its had running service at 1150 miles. Their maybe a problem that the next service was carried out at 4000 miles over 2 years later, any thoughts?

the running in service sounds fine.
With regards to the other service - not sure. Your best bet would be to pop into your nearest Dealer with the service book and jsut ask them to confirm if there is an issue with the service intervals and if it will affect the Warranty.
Alternatively, give the BMW Warranty people a call. They are quite helpful over the phone and might be able to confirm if there would be a problem if you give them mileages and dates?

The problem with us trying to guess whether the servicing is as it should be is that some of the service requirements are measured from build date and some from first registration date. Some are mileage dependent, some not.

It's easy enough to figure out if you have all the details in front of you - and the build date is on the plate in the door shut at the driver's side - but, as per the post above, probably best to ask BMW if everything is in order if you're considering buying it.

Service intervals on my M4 (Comp, not GTS) are two years or 18k miles, whichever comes first. Sounds like it needed a service based on time rather than mileage.

If the warranty is interrupted it used to be 30 days before you can claim but this might have changed.

The other thing to bear in mind is that the cost of the BMW/Mondial warranty is much higher when it has been interrupted (either the original warranty or AUC). It's between 40% and 50% more.

Are service intervals on the GTS every 1 or 2 years?

2 years, it’s the same scope as every M4.
