Still conflicted on the looks. Can see me holding on to my Yas Blue F82 for a while longer yet. Prices are rather tasty too, you are hitting almost 100K for a fully specced one with the carbon bits, ceramic brakes, and carbon seats! Of course.. there is still THAT front grill.
Thoughts?

The front is bloody awful. Saw pics of the back on twitter today, it isn't much better, especially with the M Performance exhaust

Surely the last petrol M3/4. And So best to do something striking and differentiate from the ordinary 3 series mostly , the 4 series also (that looks silly).
It will have road presence and whilst not as conventionally “handsome” as F80 , it’s more modern and original.
No manual is a shame.
The Competition has lumbar adjustment , an omission with F8x competitions. Good!
Sounds better , based on video.
Why bother with AWD? If RWD puts power down , stick with that.
As a general trend , is it too configurable ; too electronic ?
That’s all I can think of.

The thing is, no one - literally no one - bought the manual F8x.The Competition has lumbar adjustment , an omission with F8x competitions. Good!
When I was ordering my M4 Comp, the sales guy said he'd sold dozens of F8xs, over the years they'd been available at that point, and there was not a single manual among them.
Regarding the lumbar missing, did you find it a particular problem? I can't say I ever really noticed it myself, although I know others felt differently about it.
Current F82 M4 Comp owner here.
The price is strong and the M3 is now in M5 territory if comparing 4dr saloons on current pricing. I tried the configuration tool and I was nudging £90k for a similar spec to my current M4, add in the potential 10% post-Brexit import tax, RRP could be £100k. Anyone paying RRP needs to check themselves however I think this is largely irrelevant and it's all about the monthlies on PCP and dealer/finance contributions after the dust has settled.
Looks - I'm not a fan but it'll still sell... it's an M3/4 after all, an iconic brand. Not an issue for me as I'm not looking to change cars until 2022 when my warranty expires.
No manual - I have a DCT and think it's great, do I miss a manual? No, it's my only car, driven almost daily and in heavy traffic. The UK, in general isn't interested in manuals. The majority will be bought on finance and they raise the monthlies so 99% of the buyers wouldn't consider a manual. Yes, I know there's a market, I know a chap who ordered two manual F80 M3s but I get why BMW have made the decision. The average PH keyboard warrior isn't BMW's target market.
Weight - Mine feels heavy, this one is an extra 160kg in 2WD guise, how much heavier will the AWD be?! This is disappointing.
2WD/AWD - meh. The average point and squirt driver will love AWD for pub stats argument. 0-60 will c.3.2secs?. As a daily drive, it's a plus too for all season driving. I'd probably spec it. Not many will be bought by purist and regularly tracked

I found the M3/M4 competition pack seats very uncomfortable on my lower back When I was ordering my M4 Comp, the sales guy said he'd sold dozens of F8xs, over the years they'd been available at that point, and there was not a single manual among them.

Whereas the OG M3/4 seats (and the same in M2) are amazing.

I bought an F82 M4 CP manual in Feb 2020. It was actually a really nice car but I didn't gel with it in the end, sold it earlier this week. The gearbox and the auto rev matching was sublime.I do agree with the sentiment - market for manual is small.
