BMW F10 M5 conundrum

Right I've been trying to read up online on this and really struggling to find a clear consensus.
I've bought an M5 with 19inch alloys. I want to purchase a set of winter tyres for this coming winter. Now the things I'm reading online it seems that people are actually purchasing a whole set of tyres + alloys (costing >£2k). Is there no way of just purchasing a set of winters, going to Kwik Fit and having them put them on my car in a couple months time?
I believe my fitting is 295/35/r19
Popped that on to the Kwik Fit website and the only options I'm getting are summer tyres.

I had my BMW with me in Germany when I lived there during the long and hard winter of 2010. It turned out not to be feasible to run on summer tyres through the winter, so I enquired about doing what you suggest. I was told in no uncertain terms that it was not good for tyres to be fitted and removed for more than one cycle as they are not designed for multiple fitment cycles. In addition there's the increased chance of damage to your alloys to contend with. In the end I did what almost all Germans do, which is to buy a spare set of wheels to mount the winter tyres on. I went for the cheaper option of buying some non-BMW alloys (I bought a brand called Borbet) to fit my winter tyres on and it cost me about £200 more in total than just the tyres. Now I can swap between winter and summer tyres myself. OK so I bought 17" wheels whereas my summer tyres ran on 18", but it works perfectly well. Just make sure the wheels you buy will fit over your brakes and have the correct hole pattern and offset. You should see which winter tyre size is recommended on the inside of the B pillar when you open the driver door. I used Michelin Alpin winter tyres.

In my experience it’s worth putting an ad up on the various BMW forums. Plenty will have sold/traded their cars and still have old/winter wheels knocking about.
I got a set with tyres for my 335i for a couple of hundred - basically the price of one new tyre.
ETA - winter wheels are often a square set up with narrower rear wheels (opposite of a track day square set up, with wider wheels all round) as snow / winter tyres are disadvantaged by being too wide as they float on the snow rather than digging in.

Sounds like a good deal, but unless they are 19" they might not fit over the brakes on the M5. It's also possible that the M5 needs wheels with a different offset to accommodate staggered wheel sizes, so it's best to check to be sure by referring to the driver's manual or the tyre size/pressure sticker on the B pillar.You can just buy a set of winters and fit to existing alloys but I would always buy online to my precise requirements rather than take the advice of a tyre warehouse. As others have said the factory wheels will have a staggered setup with wider rears. I have seen this fact overlooked in the past when some muppet has fitted the same sizes all round and in one case a wider rear alloy was fitted on the front axle (with the narrower tyre). I hate to patronise tyre fitters but I have to double check what anyone is doing when they fit wheels/tyres to my car.

I’ve always fancied another M5 and was looking for an idea of the cost of winter wheels for one, and saw these which look like a bargain or at least a good starting point.

The 19" wheels you have now are staggered, so wider wheels and tyres on the rear. The OEM winter set-up is square but with different off-set front and rear. I would buy a separate set, and the ebay one listed is a very good bet. You can find them on ebay.de for less than 1700 euro, if that specific one does not work out.

When I had my M5 it was on 20" I wanted winters and the BMW dealer sourced me a set of winters for the wheels no need for additional wheels they were Pirelli sottozeros. I've bought an M5 with 19inch alloys. I want to purchase a set of winter tyres for this coming winter. I've run winters for 10 years over 6 M cars and always just swapped the tyres not the wheels and done over 250k swapping back and forth.
Go on to my tyres and put the specs in and search for winters.
Apologies for hijacking the thread but I’m on the look out for an F10.
Got a few shortlisted but one of them had been remapped. Should I run a mile? Insurance is about £600 more but should I just stick with standard as there’s quite a bit of choice.
I had my A8 chipped so I am not adverse to it just wanted thoughts and or experiences

Depends who remapped it really. Also, remapping is a no-go if you want to have any sort of warranty.
THIS. But if you're asking.. I'd suggest it probably makes sense to give it a miss. With so many M5s for sale, and the prices being such good value, buy the best car you can. Then, if you want to get it mapped later, get it done by someone good and you know where you're at.
On the other hand, if you're so inclined, could you use the fact it's mapped to drive a bargain from the seller? I doubt many people in the market for an M5 are looking for one mapped by an unknown source - so they're probably not getting many inquiries.
