Stupidly I've managed to smash the screen on my idrive.

Have spoken to BMW who want nearly £3k to replace which seems bananas to me. Rang around a few local garages and no one seems to repair / replace these screens.

Does anyone know of anywhere preferably in London / SE who can repair / replace these screens more cost effectively?

Pic of the damage

Thanks in advance

Have a look on the bmw forums, I have seen a couple of guides knocking g about where people replace these with android versions so I’m guessing it isn’t too hard to DIY. All the best with it,

Found a guide here

Wouldn’t you be able to get one from a breaker?

Have you tried Sinspeed in London?
They may be able to fix it or at least offer a cost effective solution.

How did you manage to do it?

Pull the dash trim off and it reveals 2 bolts and a plug. Just lifts out.

as above the screen removes out easily with two bolts. on the back sticker you will see a 7 digit part number. search for one on ebay and then just a matter of swapping them around. screen doesn't need to be coded in
