I'm due to reinsure my car in a few weeks and starting the process of getting a few quotes in. I'm 40 yr old, live in Kent, the car is kept in a locked garage, I have 4 yrs NCD and no points - SD&P only. All this in consideration and the best quote I'm getting with a £1k excess is just over £750 with Aviva. It was much cheaper by £100 last year!

Has anyone else found the cost of car insurance has increased and can anyone recommend a good broker - not Adrain Flux, they wanted over £1,100 to insure it!

thanks

I know its not the same car, but BMW insurance were the cheapest on our X4.

And recently we insured an ecoboost Fiesta and that was cheapest through our bank?

I always use one of the comparison sites. I can usually find cheaper quotes through them and then call my current insurer to see if they can match it. They normally do. I've used Hastings Direct for the last few years. This years premium for my M2C was £339 with an excess of £350. I'm 44, live in Cornwall and have 9+ years NCD.

I've found confused.com gives me the best prices of comparison websites. Get quotes from several of the big ones and confused usually fair bit cheaper.

Current policy: 47 male, village in wilts with car on drive, 12yr/max no claims discount, £337 with £500 excess, included legal for free - Churchill policy

I also found confused.com the best deal for the M2C.

38 yr old male, 15yrs NCD, garaged overnight, £500 excess - £477 (not including £30 cashback and confused.com freebie!)

I found that Quotemehappy via Confused.com was materially cheaper than everyone else, including the specialist brokers such as Flux. Still, your prices make me cry a little inside - i'm paying about £1300 a year (29yrs old, 5yrs NCB, 10k p/a and parked in a secure compound in zone one London)

Settled for just over £800 in the end with Aviva. According to their underwriters M2's are now seen as more of a risk due to a high volume of claims over the last year. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has any issues when renewing for their 2nd year or if I'm just being mugged off.

I have my M2c insured with Churchill, 38, 10 years NCB, London Zone 3 for £750. Had an M2 before and best price I could get was 1k with Admiral.
