Hi All

Currently have a 2017 M6, which is brilliant but rarely used. Cost me nothing so far, but 2021 will be expensive with a major service and new tyres

Additionally warranty expires in November. Trying to estimate costs and whether it makes sense to move it on during summer

Does anyone know how much warranty will be? Looking for Comprehensive cover, £250 excess and no emergency assistance.

Hearing very mixed prices. Anyone with real experience?

Thanks

Matt

Put your reg & mileage into the BMW Insured Warranty website and it should tell you exactly.

Won’t give me a price as I haven’t got an invitation letter yet

Strange, it doesn't ask for anything like that for mine (2006 Z4MC), just reg, current mileage and then which options I want to cover.

I just picked a 16 reg M6 off autotrader and input it into the calculator at 30k miles and got 1595 with 250 excess. I think you won’t be able to use your own plate if your warranty hasn’t yet expired.

If you are renewing from BMW Warranty to BMW warranty you may find you are offered a much lower rate, presumably the same I got on my 13 plate 40k mile M5 which was about 800ish+/- if I remember.

I don’t think you mentioned your mileage, it goes up at 60k.

I ignored the reminders to renew and was ‘late’, and I went out of warranty for a couple of weeks. They didn’t mind and still gave me the same price over the phone.

Thanks everyone

Yeah I think they won’t give me a price as it’s still under warranty

It’s done 16k btw so even by November will be way below the 60k threshold

If I can renew the warranty for about £1k I’ll probably keep it a bit longer. Closer to £2k, whilst not a lot more in the grand scheme of things, would probably tempt me to sell it

mines a 2014 GC with now about 41K miles. La Mondiale Warranty last year was c£875 with £250 XS but including Emergency Service (which was brilliant when I had big problem in France so would recommend it. I think it adds about £120)

Hope you keep it I love mine use it dailysmile

Typically if you're "continuing" warranty it's significantly cheaper than just signing up for it after it has already expired.
I have been looking at M2s and one out of warranty seems to cost double that people have quoted getting renewals for (approx £1k).

I currently have a 2016 m6 GC had a warranty since new. when I extended from the used approved it was 110 a month with 0 excess and road side assistance. if i paid up front for the year it was 1000. taking out the road side and changing to 250 excess brought it down to around 700-800 a year.

Ps. if anyone is interested, it is for sale smile.

as rfn said once the car is outside of warranty it generally costs double.

I own a 55 plate E60 M5 bought as an approved used car with 54k on clock in feb 2012 ,on purchase I extended the warranty to 2 years and when that ran out my car had less than 65k on clock so mondial warranty on a rolling month by month basis ,it started at £95 pcm and I'm currently paying £113 pcm ,over the first 7 years of ownership it went in for a couple of bits and bobs nothing to exciting or expensive I think the biggest bill was for the mechatronics on the gearbox, roll on to this last 12 months the car has only covered 72k miles it's been problem after problem ...first up was In tank fuel Pumps failed, whilst bmw had the car for this repair it suffered complete clutch failure ,I had the car back a week and the left bank of throttle actuators went ,200 miles later and 8 weeks ago again limp mode this time it was the High pressure oil pump A big job I'm led to believe and low and behold they fixed the pump and was instantly then diagnosed with gear box failure and was told the box has now arrived and I should get my car back Tuesday ,I know the gearbox alone as a job is over £ 11k And also the clutch and flywheel was £5.5k .....I can't sing mondial praises highly enough in 8 yrs of ownership I've had to pay for nothing other than wear and tear items .....I think in the last 750 miles I've claimed roughly 27k in warranty work on a 15 year old e60 M5 .....they did this week before ordering the box ask to see my original bill of sale and still decided not to write the car off and repair it ....it's blown my mind this mondial insurance but I wouldn't want to own any M car with out this policy .....also I'd go for the rolling month warranty over the yearly policy's ,I'm sure it's well documented on hear as to why ....
