Want to buy a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.

Two questions:

1. What loading is best for road use
Front : 245/35/ZR19 ?
Rear : 265/35/ZR19 ?

2. Where is a good place to buy from for prompt delivery and best prices (to include subsequent fitting)?

thanks

Try Blackcircles as they have a 10% discount offer today on the MPS4S (17th December 2019)

Just be aware that I don't believe the MPS4S is star marked so not approved by BMW whereas the MPSS is.

If the tyres are not "approved" by BMW what does that mean? Invalidated warranty? Insurance? I'm genuinely curious what the approval provides.

I ran an E61 for 6 years on non-star rated tyres which were infinitely better than the horrible approved run-flats, the car was always serviced by BMW and they never mentioned it.

I wouldn't worry about it. I replaced 4x MPSS with 4S on my F80 CP and they were fine. Less stuff construction by the feel of it, but better compound in wet and cold.

If I was prioritising dry/warm performance I'd probably have stuck with the MPSS, but it was my daily.

I’d agree with Janesmith- I also went from OE PSS to 4s’s on a f82 M4 and whilst the 4s were quieter and better in the wet and in low temperatures the PSS has better feel and more grip in the dry.

That all confirms my understanding and the advice I received from several informed sources

The MPS 4S is a later derivative of the MPSS, and is widely favoured as an everyday performance 'road' tyre.

+1 on this. MP4S, bit more all round than the MPSS. The SS is a great tyre, but really needs quite a lot of heat in it to work well. I love them on track, but this time of year they are pretty rubbish.

To be fair, on the M3 the MPSS got a bit too hot and chewed up on track, but then it's a heavy car with a decent slug of power. Didn't get around to trying the 4S on track to compare.
