S65 swapped 1M replica on eBay
Discussion
I noticed this on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2011-61-BMW-1-SERIES-4-...
It doesn't look like the Quarry Motors conversion that was discussed on here a while ago (it uses the E92 dashboard and misses the BMWP parts). If the conversion has been done properly then I am seriously considering it. Any thoughts, has anyone seen this car around before?

I too enquired about this S65 conversion as a 4.0 V8 in a 1M shell sounded very appealing. The owner was friendly and forthcoming about the build and he will send a lot of photos on request.
To be clear, its definitely not the Quarry Motors build and not done to that extremely high professional standard. Hence the big price difference between both cars.
Owner told me service history for the BMW M3 E93 is via previous M.O.Ts. Owner said he can get hold of them online by using the old registration from that BMW M3 E92 used for the engine conversion. The only service carried out since owned by the seller is an oil filter and oil change.
So I do not know about full service history etc. on that 4.0 V8 engine.
Apparently, the parts where bought separately from different people. The bumper was from a Valencia 1M and the back bumper was from an Alpine White 1M. Not sure about the side wings.
I was told the only parts that aren't OEM are the boot spoiler and alloy wheels with everything on the car from the BMW M3 E92 4.0 V8 including the brakes too.
The garage that carried out the work was KnE BMW specialist in Middlesbrough that fixed and built the car back to its original state. Personally I've not heard of them but I am not local either.
The car was originally blue so owner didn't see the point in having a full colour change instead changing the colour tone. I was told the company that did the paint job was:
Redline Racing
Earlsway, Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees TS17 9JU
I decided not to view the car in the end as I chose to invest my money into a real 1M which was definitely the best decision for me.
I also had too many question marks about the whole conversion - different original 1M parts used from two 1M's (I personally didn't like the sound of that), who actually carried out the bulk of the conversion work and service history etc. Resell value down the line is also a factor.
In my opinion, if you decide to view go in eyes wide open and, if your serious about buying, definitely have it professionally inspected first by someone who knows M cars.
Hope that helps you out.

Thanks for all this information, I have had problems getting hold of the builder, but you answered all the questions I had
I have come to a similar conclusion to you. For that price I would have been all over the Quarry conversion, but there are a few too many questions marks over that one. Hopefully it goes to a good home though, that engine in a small coupe would be wonderful.

And top lurking too - always wanted to say that
Possibly back up for sale again? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2011-61-BMW-M1-With-4-0...
The seller has advised that this is the real deal Quarry conversion as per the original Pistonheads thread but with a few changes (M3 dash, M Performance parts removal, etc) https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=13...
Does anybody have any sure fire ways of establishing whether this is indeed the original Quarry conversion?

Would you trust a car from someone who puts horrible wheels & tyres (Comforser CF700) like that on?The seller has advised that this is the real deal Quarry conversion as per the original Pistonheads thread but with a few changes (M3 dash, M Performance parts removal, etc) https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=13...

I guess the only way to truly confirm it is the Quarry Motors conversion is to check the VINs match.
Pretty certain this is not the Quarry car, so the eBay seller is a pulling a fast one or has been sadly miss-informed.
As well as being much (much) nicer than this one inside (why would anyone take the Quarry car and make it this much worse?) the most unchangeable difference is that the Quarry car had the exterior colour inside the engine bay. This one has the standard more muted BMW matt purple/blue inside the engine bay.
That's not to say that this wouldn't be an absolute riot to own, but as remarked by others, if that fact isn't true, how much else about it is hooky?
EDIT: Also.. on closer inspection of the images.... the current owner appears to be a bit of a stroker!

There is no way this is the same car that Quarry Motors built, too many inconsistencies most have already been highlighted. No doubt a bit of engineering nouse has gone into creating this but it’s hardly what you would call ‘OEM’ or ‘OEM+’ in my opinion.
The Quarry car looks exceptional, think the seller is trying to pull a fast one.
