hehe

That "should" help push down the price of the current model - at least new cars in stock.

Seems to be a bit of a push towards leasing.

£5K down, £555 ish a month over 2, 3 or 4 years.

Just a quick question to those running an M2 as a daily car, is it quiet enough for long distance or does it drone a bit ? I don't mind a firm ride but the noise would bother me on trips abroad.

I'm looking at the early M2s, or maybe an early Competition if they are significantly better to drive ? Is there a noticeable difference ? Chris Harris seems very happy with the early car. I'll be buying a manual too.
It is a compromise. My 2018 M2 is a daily and I use it for absolutely everything. It is very noisy/boomy, not that comfortable and terrible on fuel. Even with the H&K audio turned up pretty loud I can still hear wind noise and engine noise. I may look into getting the fake engine noises coded out as I've heard that can make quite a difference to the speaker system and interior noise.

However, I bought it because I'm willing to put up with all of that for the driving experience; which I think makes up for it. Nothing else at the price point really came close and I'm not regretting my purchase at all.

I'd be ok with doing a long journey in it, even driving through Europe. Just wish I could have Android auto on the screen, but I've got a mount for my phone which is a reasonable alternative.

As above, DCT is preferable due to the 7th gear which is approx 2k revs at 70mph, vs 3k ish in 6th for the manual
Thanks, that's very interesting.

To note - the Active Sound Design (ASD) comes in in Sport mode, not (to the best of my knowledge or notably) in Comfort mode. If mines performing a mundaine duty like shopping then i'm in comfort mode. Sport mode for the fun bits.

I've never had any issue with droning, wind noise or excess unwanted noise with mine, albeit its a DCT.

The DCT is very good. It has much more personality than the ZF8, though the ZF8 is probably the easier box to live with. I do enjoy the DCT though.

Fuel economy wise. Yes its a bit sorer on fuel than our previous M140i. We ran the M140i on unleaded (as its designed for), however the M2 requires Super Unleaded so the few less MPG and super unleaded requirement is worth noting.

Totally, totally different animal to the M140i though. The M140i is a great all rounder but is essentially a 120d M Sport with a bigger engine and bigger brakes, whereas theres a sense of occasion with the M2 on any journey.

The M2 is fractionally faster than a standard M140i on a dry road but its how it gets it power down on every other road surface and around the twisties that it comes in to its own.

Got a car on order for Sept delivery, now wondering whether it will be updated version or not!

I'm sure you could - and should - check.

I ordered a 535d M Sport "back in the day" just before LCI revision (and not knowing to the different). Production of the car transferred to the LCI variant and mine was i think the first LCI car delivered out of the dealers.

They honoured the original discount offered - cant remember what became of the change in list price.

I opted for subtle stealth and a few mods sharpens the M140i. I’ve found the BMW hierarchy doesn’t like a faster ‘lesser’ model, particularly on track.

You should be OK for the LCI as production usually updates in March and July but it is definitely worth checking. If you have your 7 digit order number from the dealer, you can give that to BMW Genius online (on the BMW UK website) and get them to give you an order status update.

A month and nearly 900 miles into ownership and I'm in total agreement with this article. Assume revised model is why I got such a great deal on the existing one.

if i was a current owner of the outgoing M2 I wouldn't be happy... this update is what the M2 should've been all along from the start with the extra colours available.

I wonder when the Competition version will be released and what that will bring

There isn’t enough difference for me to be bothered if I’d bought one recently. Litchfield would get mine and the output lifted to over 600bhp. Some colour and trim changes really.

xDrive and extra 30-50bhp and auto only.

I would say arriving either shortly before 08/25 or shortly after 07/26 as that is the planned production cycle for the M2 CS.
Probably the latter as that will be mid production run for the M2 general (started 2023, scheduled to end 07/2029).

Thats pretty much always what an LCI is though - some relatively small tweaks and enhancements to improve the car.

I think the only thing I’m a bit miffed about is the silver wheels, assuming they’re available in the UK. I didn’t like the style of the bi-colour ones when I ordered, so grudgingly went with black

except this G87 M2 has only been in production just one year and LCI updates are typically 2-3 years into the production cycle for M cars. And the original colour choices available on this M2 were very poor. Every previous M3 had more choice.

I remember reading some time ago that there were no plans for a G87 Competition, only a CS.

The latest version of the M2 seems to offer much better value than the AMG CLE 53 which is nearly £20K more expensive. It has certainly got my son rethinking what his next car will be. Though the rumours of a CLE 63 with the 4 litre V8 coming out may change his mind yet again.
