While there is demand BMW won’t discount. When demand drops off, which it will, the usual M discounts will become available. These aren’t £90k or £100k cars and, if you wait for eighteen months, you’ll get one for £65k or perhaps less. Assuming the state of the UK economy worsens then the point where discounts and lower APRs on PCPs become available may be even sooner.
You think we will get lower aprs with rates like they are now ? I wouldn’t hold your breath for a £65k that’s just not realistic
Demand is going to drop significantly in the next eighteen months or so.

Well BMW finance have given a £33000 ballon for an 42 month old m4 cab x drive with 30000 miles.

So if that’s what they are offering they will look to be very expensive.

On the other hand. I don’t think demand will reduce that much. Ok. Those people who are stretching themselves might not be able to proceed. But then they will be replace by those who can no longer afford an m5 and will buy the m3 instead

It happens every time with every single model and has done since I bought my first M car about 17 years ago.

Yep good luck getting a 2019 F83 with 30k on it for that price, but BMW will be playing it very safe and will leave £10k of fat on the bone I reckon as a deposit for the next deal

Agreed. But on pcp a low balloon makes the monthly payments massive

Building equity in the car encourages people to take another pcp deal , if the balloon was more realistic people would just hand the car back and walk away

I watched a recent edition of Wheeler Dealers, in which they up-speced a 335i Touring. With the
upgrades, the 335i beat an M3 coupé in a drag race.

Brewer said he had someone lined up to buy it, but didn't reveal how much he sold it for.

Brewer and 'Elvis' repeatedly said that an M3 Touring was a car that BMW should have made years ago.

So who have we got left on here who's still actually buying one in the face of the impending financial apocalypse?

Me. I've been saving up for years, so have the money ready. This is a ten year keeper, and will be one of the last great ICE cars I think. We'll compare notes after my sixtieth, which is about that time away, and by then I'll probably be quite happy with an electric S Class.....

Still no news from the dealer with regards to allocation yet though. Not heard anything for a couple of weeks now.

That's exactly how I'm thinking and I'm old enough to know that buying a new car is only going to result in you losing money unless you're getting something ultra-limited.

I don't think dealers know what's going on but some of them are placing orders on their systems presumably to ensure they count towards their Q4 figures?

Yes my dealer chased me last week saying he had to prop the finance up that day to stop the rate increasing ?
The finance was sorted and my order now has an expected delivery date of 28th December, as of yet though I have no idea where I am on their list and what allocation they have/have not got ??
Presume just a sales number boosting exercise for them at this stage ??

That's what I'm thinking too... I now have an order on their system which they'll "pass" to BMW to get a build slot but they've no idea when they'll get confirmation of it. I've been told 31/3 for mine, but I think that's a guess at this time and I noticed on the finance proposal it was filed under some "q4 2022 sales" drive which confirmed it.

Do you mind me asking what spec and colours you went for?

My dealer contacted me on Friday.

Their early allocation has dropped from the indicted 4 to 2 or 3 at best.

Their allocated cars are on order with no quota, and the information so far is this quota shall be released in Q1 2023 with anticipated first deliveries in April 2023.

This is all best case scenario.

If I go for it it will be a daily for me so fairly poverty spec.
Colour wise currently specced as black but between that, brooklyn or IOMG - I would deffo go IOMG if there was a tan interior option.
Full black leather interior, heated wheel, laser lights.

That's circa £87 OTR, I've noticed a couple of dealers now offering over £5k discount on AT on M3 xDrive saloons, so high £70's for a similar specced saloon, if that improves to say low to mid £70's over the winter I'll find it hard to justify the premium for the touring, especially if it turns into a late 23 early 24 delivery date for the touring.
