Thanks all for your helpful comments on the Riviera Blue M5. Much food for thought. I’ll talk this week to the sales guy there who I’ve bought cars off before, see if he’ll give me a nudge and a wink about how low they might be prepared to go on price. As others have said on here, you’d imagine times are getting tough (and likely to get tougher still) for main dealers.

I’ve just started reviewing a new car purchase - currently in a Macan (base) which has a Golf GTI engine.
Saying that cost me £70k in December and thinking of dumping that for something a bit quicker.. ?? I’d probably prefer an M3 but looking on pistonheads - £65k examples exist 2 years old.
I’d prefer to buy from a BMW dealer for finance and servicing/warranty. I also have a Mini Electric so know the local BMW dealer.

The question - anything I should avoid?
I do like this one -

If you want a predestine 2021October M5 Ultimate in MBB with white leather every extra owned by me it's at Chigwell on the Approved BMW site.
I looked after it like a baby. Look no further the best one out there. 10K careful dry miles.

Cold call - well email actually - this afternoon from local BMW dealer (who I have been a customer of for 20 years) offering a 6000 mile year old M5 Comp with comfort pack and few nice extras for £67K. Ouch!
Are you going for it? If not would you mind introducing me? What colour and spec is the car?

ow fully loaded and how many miles?. It can't be an ultimate at that price point they are £130K+ new.
Unless the price crept up in the last 2yrs, my LCI Ultimate with Individual Paint was just shy of £127k list price. Not sure it's possible to get North of £130k other than the CS model.

Just checked my paperwork. MSRP as built was £123K, that's for a MY21 LCI Comp with Ultimate Pack & Individual Paint (Aventurine Red). OTR price added another £2.7k (1st year VED/Delivery/Plates etc.), so overall just shy of £126K.

No other options available that i was aware of, although is possible that you could purchase an Individual Interior (no idea on cost), as mine was Silverstone/Black Full Leather.

Negotiated down to £99k, so overall discount was £27k.

Mine was £131995.00 Retail, I paid £101K including ACE 3 cameras supplied and fitted. so a good chunk off.

Selling my 2022, Tanzanite Blue, 4500 miles. Comfort plus pack (heated wheel, massage seats, ventilated seats, soft close doors), visibility pack (matrix/laser lights).

DM me if interested, I can do much better than 80k. These are already under warranty so you don't really need approved used, strictly speaking.

A good dealsmile

Am guessing BMW increased the list price a little after April 2021, if yours was £6k more, or the Salesman was massaging the figures in either of our casessmile

I'm sure the car comes as standard with Cameras to capture accident footage etc. Albeit not regular dashcams.

It does BUT only in the event of accident or you have to press a camera button to start recording which is not good.

Our local BMW dealer wants 67500 for almost this exact car (theirs has done 6k) - or £69750 for one that has done 3k. Both tanzanite / black leather with Comfort+ pack etc.

I’ve had a couple of recent issues with my car - firstly I’ve had a “engine coolant level too low’ error, I booked it into my local main dealer (cars under AUC warranty) they pressure tested it and found no leaks or any issues. I got the car back last night, got in it this morning and bingo I got the same message, I don’t have the greatest regard for the dealers ability to be proactive when fault finding, is there anything common that causes this issue - I’ve read a change in pressure or temperature in the weather can trigger false errors?

I’ve also randomly had the drivers massage seat function activate on its own on a few occasions which again they looked into and found no fault- I got in it to drive it home from the dealer yesterday and the massage seat base activated straight away… anyone know this issue before?
Cheers

I had the same coolant issue on my 2020 M5 Comp at 12k miles. Simply topped it up at the dealer until they checked it over. This has been an issue with many M5’s, the head tech said a service bulletin had detailed this; can’t remember but might have been under filling at factory? Even cars with no leaks were having a slight fall and it never happened again to me after a little extra added. Don’t know if the temp of the coolant saw it happening only when car was cold; warm warmed through the warning went away from memory. Anyway, I’d forget about it as a non issue.

The coolant tank has a tendency to crack on some cars, this is common knowledge to BMW dealers it should be checked as it can cause a lot of damage .
You need a torch to check it yourself you should see some dried coolant outside the tank IF it's got a crack.

Thanks the dealer assured me there’s no sign of any collabt leak around the tank or below and it’s been pressure tested but still threw up the error.
Is it worth pushing them to replace any sensors that might be acting up?
