The premiums are laughable and will cause a lot of folk to get out of M-cars.
I refuse to be shafted and so will stay away from BMW.
Interestingly, my wife (older bird with no claims, clean licence) has had a renewal offer of £1100 for her 2020 M135i, double the previous one.
We’re being hammered from all directions, aren’t we?

Re - tyre shortage - some results from my digging.
I have been hunting around for new rear Michelin PS4 tyres (285 35 20 104Y Extra Load).
Group 1 BMW (formerly Barons) have 4 PS4s left in the country at a paltry £400 each....
According to my local tyre fitters who called up Michelin there is a build date of 24th July before more new stock is released.

Not an M5, but I'm also struggling to get hold of 285/40/22 for the front of the Merc with the MPS4S. I'm going to see if my local Merc dealer can get hold of any. I recently put MPS4S on the rear and they are 325/35/22, and this car has been a nightmare to try to get tyres for, and it backs up that tyre firms do seem to be more focused on the more usual tyre sizes I reckon(which makes sense really because that is where the volume sales are).
Drove a friends f90 m5 and literally couldn’t turn the traction off. It was the most pathetic driving experience I’ve ever had.
With everything dialled to the max in 2wd mode. The traction literally wouldn’t turn off?
I’ve had a F13 M6 before and that literally was like a drift car with everything off. Are all f90’s like that? Is it some sort of safety feature? Was a 20 reg car.

Sounds like you missed something. Easy to turn traction fully off, and iirc you have to if you want the 2wd mode. With everything dialled to the max in 2wd mode. The traction literally wouldn’t turn off?

ImpossibleWas trying absolutely everything. It wasn’t letting loose in first and restricting power. But in 2nd gear was letting loose. Very very strange

Something not right then, as above, you can't even engage 2wd without switching off virtually all safety systems, including traction control. With everything dialled to the max in 2wd mode. The traction literally wouldn’t turn off?

Tried 2wd ONCE on track in my LCI & it was a very brief experience that lasted just shy of 2 laps. Was impossible (in the dry) to make any real progress as traction was breaking in every gear. Yes it was a giggle going sideways everywhere (until i got too sideways coming out of the Melbourne Loop & spun), but if that's deemed as a pathetic driving experience, then either you were not in 2wd mode, the car you drove has a fault, or your expectations of excitement levels in way above mine

Safety system, the car realizes when absolute bellends enter. With everything dialled to the max in 2wd mode. The traction literally wouldn’t turn off?

I know these aren't the most aural cars, but I'm trying to figure out what level of noise they make, and is there a difference pre / post lci?
Some reviews say / show absolutely nothing and others seem to think it makes an alright bit of noise.
Big difference with the OPF:Some reviews say / show absolutely nothing and others seem to think it makes an alright bit of noise.
If you want the most noise, go for an early (pre-OPF) non-Competition pre-LCI with Sport Exhaust. All Competition models - pre and post LCI - have an OPF, so much more muted and not sure any difference between them.

My 2019 car was easily the loudest car I have owned. The car rocked from side to side when rev'd in neutral. Pre OPF of course. Some reviews say / show absolutely nothing and others seem to think it makes an alright bit of noise.

I presume the OPFs came in a bit later with the M5 then? I have a December 2018 F82 M4 and that has the fun sponge quiet OPFs on it sadly(I think they were fitted to the M4 around August 2018 build).TX.

They were introduced September 2018, mine was a March 2018 with Sport Exhaust and sounded gloriousGassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
