Think this is the right forum, but please move if another is suitable.

Is a salary of £30k adequate for London? Any Phers live in London on a similar salary? If so, do you get by okay?

Thanks

Ben

It's ok (IMO) as long as you don't expect to buy a house/flat. House-sharing with mates (or strangers if you want) keeps the costs down.

I started on less than that and did fine but it was a decade ago...

I managed on that a few years ago.

Cycling to work, taking a packed lunch, and not drinking too much unless someone else is paying will make it go a bit further.

You'll need to find a missus / mate to buy a house, and even then it will be a it of a dump / doer-upper.

Welcome...

Cool, doesn't sound TOO bad... Sure living in London will make up for it. I'm only in the application process, but if I get the job then may well go for it once I've weighed everything up.

Back to Cyprus for now!

I manage on that OK but I don't have a mortgage or rent to find each month, however to compensate I go motor racing which is dearer than a mortgage. frown

IT role, will probably look into sharing/renting etc if I progress in the interviews.

I work in London on a salary in the mid 30's but live just outside London. I get my travel expenses paid for which def helps.

As long as you don't mind cummuting then a salary of £30k is fine imo.
