The national trust are a big employer (including the national monuments office) near the outlet village.
There are some cracking agencies on commerical road - Manpower used to deal with all of Motorola but since it closed its Swindon branch I don't know who deals with it. One of the best agencies was near Henry George estate agents on commerical road - as you're walking down from the old library (near the college) into town, its on your left (but quite near the college) if that makes sense. Can't remember the name of it though
Also try Honda.

Commercial road is where i'm heading tomorrow, it's full of recruitment agencies nowadays, armed with a fair few C.V's too.

Don't forget the agency near C&G at the top of town!
Then Reed near BHS.
Good luck with it - I'm in a similar situation and getting pretty fed up now.

I went for an interview yesterday for a sales and marketing job. Said I was perfect yadda yadda, smartly dressed, well presentable, confident etc but unfortunately I was 2 years too young!

Fancy a job as a Relocation Consultant just off J16 opposite Windmill Hill?
Got a position going in my team (I'm only the senior, not manager I'm afraid) if you're interested?
It's a 9-5 Office job, but it's very varied and I promise you won't be bored and the potential to grow within the company is great - lots of support, training and benefits.
You'll be supporting employees as they move to new jobs, new countries and co-ordinating with suppliers for moving goods, finding homes and processing expenses and payroll.
Feel free to email me for more info - I will pick up tonight when I'm home...
It doesn't have any relevance - but how old are you? Oh and financial background is a plus as there is a little bit of expense/compensation calculations and understanding that go with the job.

Nice of them to drag you down for an interview then wasn't it...
My age wasn't on my C.V. as it's not 'required' due to the Age Discrimination Act IIRC, well that's what the online C.V thingy told me!
Still, they were very lovely ladies and good experience with interviewing etc.

Welcome to my world
I got turned down today for a job that was first advertised on Tuesday, I applied on Wednesday, today I get told that the job has gone
I was told that this company wanted me (was told this by HR) and went for 5 interviews at various sites.

Only to be told that a job didn't actually exist but they thought one might at some point.
Oddly, I don't want to work for them...

Monday morning they gave the job to someone else.
I had 2 interviews for a job a few weeks ago.
It was down to me and one other candidate.
After 2 interviews they gave the job to a 3rd candidate.
Apparently he has been caretaking the position since the last guy left.
So if he was good enough why TF did they even bother advertising a job and costing me a shed load of cash running around!

I was honest in my response, we may have some basic admin jobs going at ours, but at 16/17 we do need someone with at least 2 years experience of sales/marketing/customer service/finance.
It's not age discrimination per se, but does still make me feel bad!
No a problem Sarah. It's not age discrimination per se, but does still make me feel bad!

I'll keep looking, seems to be enough opportunities floating around.
Are you still attending college/school? If so, its the best way to go.
Find yourself a weekend job/evenings even if it isn't want you want to do, just to get some money and "work experience"
Talk to the school to see what support they can offer to look for work
You're at Ridgeway aren't you?
