Hi Guys,

I am a recent graduate with a 2:2 in Business Information Technology. I'm looking at a couple different roles within the IT area but I am struggling to find graduate positions in my first choice!

First choice is Digital Forensics and my second choice is a role that has many different names!
Basically it consists of me going to the customer to discuss requirements in a language they understand and then head back to the office and discuss the users requirements with the technical team in 'IT Speak'.

I have heard it called TA, Consultant etc etc

Currently I am working as a bar manager as this is what I have the most experience in from working in bars during university holidays. Its a good job as far as meeting people and socialising goes but this really is a temporary thing before I can get my foot in the door to gain access the my chosen career path!

I am in the North West but I am willing to re-locate if the job is right smile

If you have any helpful suggestions or require more information then please don't hesitate to post here or e-mail me smile

Yoi've done yourself no favours getting a 2:2.

Sorry but you'll struggle.

Unfortunately most grad schemes require a 2.1, which uni did you go to and how were your A level results?

The role you are describing is one of a consultant, check out IBM's IT consultant role....I did a very similar degree to you, all about bridging the socio-technical gap so to speak, really sets you up for work in consultancy. Only problem is it's not a classic degree, you would probably have more chance of moving into that area of work if you had an Economics degree from a red brick uni.

Hi Doug,

I am looking for a couple of grads to work in a sales/technical pre sales role.

We are an IT company based in Wilmslow and work with HP, Xerox, Canon, Sharp and Ricoh.

A 2-2 isnt ideal but more than willing to have a chat.
