Has anyone had experience of the services which review your CV then re-format/re-word it? Are they worth it?

Pay £7.95 for a book on how to write a CV. Those companies are rip offs unless you're seriously short of a brain cell.

NP. The best thing about reading one of those books is that you won't have to use such companies in the future when you go for other jobs. And if it all goes wrong, you could offer your services as a CV writer/checker.
