I struggled to get any interviews until I changed my Personal Profile to this,
"An open-minded individual with a flexible approach to work, which enables accommodation of change. Able to work well with a group or on own initiative. Willing to take any responsibilities and assginments, regardless of the challange. A self-reliant individual with the ability to pick up new ideas and concepts quickly. Enjoys learning new skills and methods of working. Takes pride in producing excellent work and can accept constructive criticism. Organized and can work under pressure in a busy environment."
The interviews came rolling in and I now have a good job, hope this helps and good luck.

Did you spell challenge correctly on your CV "An open-minded individual with a flexible approach to work, which enables accommodation of change. Able to work well with a group or on own initiative. what could be a good idea is to look at a bunch of the university websites - alot will have career centers that help with this sort of thing including having templates/suggestions on the internet for public access as well as internal.
have a look at some of these:
Manchester Uni
London City Uni
Cambridge Uni
Oxford Uni
Durham Uni
Bradford Uni
Birmingham Uni
Nottingham Uni

Slightly OT but does anyone know how far back a CV should go? Reason being I'm
looking at updating mine and was advised by my sis that it should only go back 10 - 15 years.
I started in this industry (sales) 17 years ago. Company A bought by Group B, offered me continuity of employment + new contract (£increase + car + pension + health)
Transferred to another part of Group, Continuity of employment, better car, promoted to Northern Sales Manager. Fancy title but basically office in Hull with just me working from it generating and maintaining sales.
This company became independant 2+ years ago (continuity under law) and now looks like the directors may sell to a company that already has a Northern Office!
Don't want to leave but want to make sure I'm ready if they do sell and the new owners decide they can combine the northern branches and 'trim costs'.
I've had the same job for 17 years,if I include my whole career, it goes back 30 yrs and would be like writing War & Peace!

Precis the stuff from a long while ago, ie your first job should probably be only one or two lines of the CV, the second job can be three or four and so on.looking at updating mine and was advised by my sis that it should only go back 10 - 15 years.

ETA, its useful doing this as no-one really cares what you were doing 30 years ago, but it may be that the bosses mate worked with you in your first job and things like that can make a difference between getting an interview and not.
