Morning,
I've just been approached by some company called Connected that sell themselves as a start-up hub. They said they look to work to gain funding for start ups (this checks out with a google search). But they also look to place people into board advisory and NED roles. The start-ups are tied to using Connected to recruit these roles.

THey are saying they £4500 for two years of support and training and placement into roles to get you started "on your portfolio management" carere.

Legit or fishy AF?

I've got several years experience of being a NED. It started off with having experience of being an Exec Director first. IMHO it would be quite difficult to be a NED unless

1. You had lots of experience as an Exec Director; or
2. You had very specialist experience that was relevant to the Organisation.

For example an organisation I worked for had to issue some bonds for some fund raising. It's quite a specialist area sow e co-opted a Treasury Director who had detailed knowledge that the rest of the Board didn't.

no, it was these guys: https://www.connectd.com/

They proposed that it's a year of a board advisory role, then a NED role.

Tbh I'm not sure how much a training course would help unless you also have a lot of experience in your chosen field.
