My wife is being made redundant from her firm and we're giving serious consideration to a fee sharing arrangement for her next job. It's potentially better pay and flexibility instead of working for a traditional firm.

Our main concern is quality of secretarial support for her niche area of law (public children law) and flexibility around other part-time professional commitments. She will want to work 3.5 days a week on average.

We also need to investigate what costs would fall to her instead of a firm, with this arrangement (practicing certificate, costs draughtsman, etc)

Interested to hear if anyone's worked in or with these types of firms and your experiences!

Thanks!

Yes. She's been responsible for sourcing all her own work for years.

I'd expect she'd get roughly 50/50 then

If she has her own source of work it really might be worth getting her own support

Seems bonkers to make her redundant if she brings in her own work
