Is it just my workplace or does this happen in your?

If you colleagues see your content with what your doing and you don't go out of your way to bother other people, they absolutely have to go to the boss to try and throw a spanner in the works to make your life as miserable as there's is.

I just don't understand the mentality.

As a boss, I had a similar situation with on of my team.

The Boss treads a tricky line, so unless they think your colleagues are right , just ignore it. Bosses learn to ignore the noise unless it’s actually important.

If you think you are being treated unfairly by the boss on account of what others are saying, tell him that you like your work, ask them if they think there are issues with your performance in reality? If not Ask them to back you up with the people that are saying things about you.

If you don’t have their support, you know it’s time to start looking around.

Stoism says you can’t control what you can’t control so try not to let their interference bother you unless your boss isn’t backing you.

I am not happy why should they be. It is the same brain as the ones that see people doing reasonably well and are envious of that (mainly down to their own poor decisions).

It makes their normal feel normal if everyone is like them.
You're a disruptor if you break their thinking. Lots of people feel comfortable with a group think.

Or the reverse, they’ll just be people like you, desperate to ‘other’ people they don’t fully agree with.

I've never seen that happen. What sort of industry are you in and what sort of job?

What are they complaining about?

Presumably your boss must have told you else how would you know?

They don't like I get things done when they can't.

Just smile to yourself with the knowledge and abilities that you have and that they don't.

A time always comes when you make it count (big).

Smile, knowing that, them try to break you and your career does not fix them and theirs. smile

People are s

Once you understand that and learn to disregard the s, life is easier

Maybe you should start up on your own doing something. It has its own stresses but at least you don’t have to put up with stuff like you’re talking about.

It's getting close to the end of the year so performance appraisal season is about to begin. If your company runs any form of ranked appraisal system then it's likely to drive people to try and throw others under the ranking bus by any means possible.

My wife is having this done to her at work.

Works in sales and has a nasty st as a college. He watches her kpi like a hawk always making snipping comments. She pulls in more profit most months than him. So he suffering a real inferiority complex

She secured a large sale the other week. Which has made the nasty st step up a gear. The day she wasn’t in the office he was proclaiming to all that would listen that she had undersold the job and wasn’t making any margin (the job pricing had not been imputed Into the system, no evidence). Also that she was sleeping with the contact to get the sale.

She has pointed this out to her boss and it’s seems to have been swept under the carpet once again. She feels like she isn’t respected there, as nothing is ever done about it. I was awoken the other night to her crying at 2am. It’s not on in my eyes.

Only way I can see her fixing it, is handing her resignation in and leaving. If they value her contribution to the business. Maybe they should look at making an example of the said tt and getting rid of him. If they let her go she’s better out of there if you ask me.

Exactly how I feel.
