Change of career back to mechanics (but different)
Discussion
Hi All, not sure if this has ever been asked. I got out the motor trade a few years back. I did my apprenticeship with Mercedes, then did a couple years as a tech, then workshop manager and then I went to Ford as a tech. If got a bit tired of the motor trade and how it was always poor quality of workmanship. I currently work as an engineer in an automated warehouse for a large upmarket delivery company, and have got a bit bored over the last 2 years working for them. My partner has thought about me working back in the motor trade but something I was more interested in…. Classic cars. I don’t have much experience in them aside from owning a classic beetle for a year or so so my question is - is there a “bridging” type course to get me the required knowledge on classics or would I just have to apply and learn on the job? and B, is this a good idea? I just don’t want to be in a place that doesn’t care about poor quality workmanship and just wants work smashed out. Thanks
