My partner is applying for a job working part time as a Ranger/Warden for a local nature group. The application form has questions that are in no way relevant to the position. It seems there are more questions about diversity than qualifications and experience. These included.

Preferred Pronoun?
Did you go to a single, or multi faith school?
Did you get free school meals?
What newspaper do you read?
What level of education did your parents achieve?
What socioeconomic class do you consider yourself?

I would be inclined to put "fk all to do with you" for these.

Leave them blank if you don't wish to answer.

If that affects the application, it's worth considering if that's an org worth working for.

In that case why waste your time filling in the application and spending £1 on a stamp?

The questions are bonkers but they're probably a reflection of the culture/values of the organisation. if your OH doesn't like them, don't bother applying

These questions are fairly common these days as companies try to understand the background of the people who work for them. They are optional so I'd just ignore if they bother you.

Had those and more when I applied for a role at one of the "big four" consultancy firms. The excuse was that they want to ensure that they recruit from a diverse backgroud. More likely they want to screen out anyone working class whose face won't fit.

Great idea - if she's on JSA and needs to evidence that she's applying for jobs but doesn't really want one. Because she won't even get to the interview stage.

If she prefers being addressed as Mrs 808 this just makes sure nobody causes offence by addressing her as Ms or Miss 808. Simples. It also avoids confusion if she happens to have a gender neutral first name.

Of course certain right wingers will tell you this is too simple and it’s a dastardly plot to end civilisation as we know it.

Simples?Indeed you are, presumably as this is an application form, the usual box for Mr,Mrs,miss etc will come before name,so no miss understanding there?
Pronoun more about he,she,it,cat, than the 'simples' Mr Mrs?

A title may not convey gender.

If you need to refer to Dr Alex Jones, do you use he, she, or they?

Plenty of organisations ask these types of question, with the answers not shared with the hiring manager. They will be used to understand the types of people applying to work there.

I’ve not seen any of these that don’t give a “prefer not to say” option.
